The Carroll EMC Foundation awarded more than $135,000 to 56 nonprofit organizations during its annual Impact Grant reception on Aug. 20, helping fund projects that will meet local needs across Carroll, Haralson, Heard, Paulding, Polk, Floyd and Troup counties.
Funded through Operation Round Up®, which allows participating co-op Members to round their electric bills up to the next dollar each month, the grants turn spare change into meaningful investments that address needs across West Georgia. The program helps organizations expand their reach and strengthen the services they provide.
This year’s funding cycle distributed $135,924.07 to projects focused on education, health and human services, civic engagement and other charitable purposes. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and other tax-exempt entities, such as municipalities, whose work benefits residents within Carroll EMC’s service area.
The Foundation’s Board of Trustees reviews applications and evaluates each proposal based on its potential reach, implementation strategy and responsible use of funds.
“I want to make sure we are good stewards of the funds entrusted to us by Members,” said Karen Warren, Carroll EMC Foundation Trustee. “Although it might sound idealistic, I believe that these grants can change the direction of an individual’s life.”
Since its establishment in 2001, the Carroll EMC Foundation has returned millions of dollars to local communities through grants, scholarships and charitable assistance programs. A complete list of this year’s Impact Grant recipients is available at carrollemc.com/impactgrants.
